It is a dark brown colored, small chana with rough coat, cultivated mainly in India and some other parts of Indian sub-continent and Ethiopia, Iran and Mexico. It is a small version of regular pale yellow chickpeas. Although it has brown skin, it is yellow underneath, and it has a nutty flavor and stiff texture when cooked. It is low in fat naturally, high in dietary fibers and rich in minerals and vitamins. It is free from dead and alive insects or weevils, fumigated prior to shipment and fit for human consumption.
